The purpose of the symposium was to address the relationship between the acquisition of novel locomotor strategies and the origin and radiation of major groups of primates. The volume contains 10 chapters by notable authorities on the field; the titles of four papers follow: Evolution of Hallucial Grasping in the primates; Implications of postcranial evidence for the origin of euprimates; Adaptive diversification of Malagasy strepsirrhines; and Relative joint size and hominoid locomotor adaptations with implications for the evolution of hominid bipedalism. This work is reprinted from Journal of Human Evolution, volume 17, no. 1/2 (1988). No ownership marks and few signs of use. A bright and clean copy in near fine condition.

Ce la prendiamo con tutti, con i cinesi in particolare che riteniamo responsabili di tutto questo calvario e non consideriamo che se facessimo proprio così, e cioè se ci avvicinassimo agli altri, ci togliessimo le mascherine, e incominciassimo a parlare, a inveire contro il nemico, non faremmo altro che amplificare il nostro malessere; ma confido, confortata da una frase di Giovanni Falcone (mi perdonerà per questo) che la pandemia "come tutti i fenomeni umani ha un principio, una sua evoluzione e avrà quindi anche una fine". Nondimeno in quella parte di mondo dove la democrazia è sinonimo di utopia, certo pregiudizio persiste e agisce con prepotenza (penso all'Iran, dove auspico che il vento di cambiamento non si arresti, pur con l'enorme sacrificio di quelle donne, nuove eroine del Terzo Millennio). Ma anche in Occidente il dominio maschile non è ancora finito, anche se appare maggiormente contenuto, grazie alle tante attività di contrasto delle donne (e non solo) che attraverso il tempo, e con tutta la forza concessa dalla natura e dalla cultura, sono riuscite a far valere la loro parola.
