An interesting history of the oldest insurance company in the South largely structured around legal proceedings throughout the century. Includes opinions of of John Marshall, Edmund Randolph, John Wickham and others. The preface touts the outline as having weathered the Civil War, meeting all its liabilities as though it hadn't ever happened.
