Early Roberto Lagarmilla lived a double vo…cation that included science and music, which determined throughout his life the exercise of both. In the scientific field he is responsible for the creation of the Spectrography Department of the State Power Plants and Transmissions Laboratory, as well as the beginning of a permanent record of solar radiation, in the Meteorological Service of Uruguay, in which he performed several decades as a meteorologist. These activities, added to his work as a journalist where he covered both music and meteorology and astronomy, made his musical production, not very vast and of little diffusion, consist mostly of unpublished manuscripts, some known for their performance in recitals or for recordings transmitted by SODRE stations.
