Bacala (1915-2000), who helped found the American College of International Physicians, writes of Dr. Dioso's verse: 'Although immensely medical in subject matter and development, it is non-medical in approach and treatment. Nay, it is literary and beautiful, dressed in the personal style of a man of feeling and thinking, and a physician of knowledge and ability, whose fingertips do not feel the radial pulse alone, but also senses the beating heart that causes this pulse, divines the mind that shares in the blood circulated by this pulse, and reads the soul of being whose pulse he holds and feels.
