Petites épidermures, piqûres et taches sur les plats. Roger Daon naquit à Bricqueville près de Bayeux, en 1678. Il entra dans la congrégation de Jésus et Marie en 1699. Il fit ses études au séminaire de Caen, où il fut ordonné prêtre en 1702. Presque dès le début de la vie religieuse, on lui confia la charge de supérieur, qu'il exerça, sauf une interruption de huit ans, jusqu'à sa mort. Il commença à Rennes en 1706 au petit séminaire, qui venait d'être fondé, bien pauvrement, dans le presbytère de la paroisse Saint-Étienne. En 1719, il est nommé professeur de théologie, puis, en 1727, supérieur au grand séminaire d'Avranches. Il eut beaucoup à lutter contre l'influence de Gauthier, vicaire général jansénisant, qui jetait le trouble dans l'esprit de l'évêque, César Le Blanc, et dans celui des séminaristes. Au prix de mille difficultés, il ne cessa de promouvoir la soumission à la bulle Unigenitus. A Senlis, où, en 1730, il prit la direction du grand séminaire, l'entente fut parfaite avec Mgr Trudaine, qui le choisit comme confesseur, et à qui il dédia sa Conduite des confesseurs. Il fonda dans la ville une conférence de théologie morale. En 1738, il fut transféré au grand séminaire de Caen et, en 1744, l'évêque de Séez le demanda pour fonder son grand séminaire; il le dirigea à la satisfaction générale, jusqu'à sa mort, le 16 août 1749.
