Levantan sus casas en forma artesanal e improvisada, utilizando materiales reciclados, sonando con erigir una utopia al pie de la Cordillera de Los Andes, lejos del sable, las reglas, el bullicio de la gran ciudad, el toque de queda, la autoridad intrusiva. Sin saberlo, estaban fundando el barrio que eventualmente paso a llamarse Comunidad Ecologica de Penalolen, un hito dentro de las comunidades de Chile y el mundo. Estas paginas rescatan la historia de esta Comunidad "rurbana" (rural y cosmopolita a la vez), efervescente de sonadores, musicos y artistas que conviven con la naturaleza, el polvo y la cordillera, desde su nacimiento hasta su posterior lucha por subsistir, segun su manifiesto: ". ante el avance desacertado del sistema que se yergue implacable y erroneo a nuestro alrededor". Pero tambien recoge, a traves de mas de cincuenta anecdotas y cahuines, las aventuras y desventuras que la convivencia de tanto personaje iconico e irreverente -partiendo por el poeta Nicanor Parra- ha ido gestando a traves de sus poco mas de cuatro decadas de existencia. Parafraseando del prefacio: "Es un relato chismoso, pero tambien un intento para combatir el olvido, sacudir la memoria para que el polvo del tiempo no lo entierre todo". En este libro, que mezcla historia, anecdotas y chismes, los autores proponen un nuevo genero literario: "chismoficcion". Los chismes abundan - algunos muy sabrosos - involucrando connotados personajes de la zoologia chilena, desde el dos veces presidente Sebastian Pinera hasta conocidos artistas, intelectuales y politicos de lado y lado. La ironia va deshilachando las insospechadas aventuras sin misericordia ni bias ideologico. Pero no es solo una recoleccion de anecdotas. El libro nos relata tambien como se formo la Comunidad Ecologica de Penalolen, partiendo de un pequeno grupo de sonadores, las batallas que tuvo que enfrentar y los desafios a los que se constantemente se ve sujeta, y que amenazan su subsistencia, algunos provenientes del exterior y otros del interior mismo de la comunidad. Citando el prologo del filosofo y academico Luis Tirso Troncoso: "Los autores estan mas cerca de Aristofenes que de Platon, y aquello oxigena mejor la atmosfera de tanto bipedo y bipeda implume que reside por estos pagos.
