Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. Unpaginated. Published in 1989. The photographer's breakthrough collection of celebrity portraits and male and female nudes. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with the Second Edition. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. Volume One of the landmark two-volume set. Each volume was published separately, ten years apart from each other in fact, and by different publishers. The reason they nevertheless work perfectly together is that Greg Gorman maintained full creative control over the production of both. The First Edition is now rare. A stunningly beautiful production by Greg Gorman and Gary Johns: Oversize-volume format. Photographs by Greg Gorman. There is minimal text. Printed on pristine-white, thick uncoated stock paper by the legendary Rapaport Printing Company New York to the highest standards. In pictorial DJ, which utilizes a male nude in front and a celebrity portrait on the back, and white titles on the spine, as issued. Presents "Greg Gorman: Volume I". His finest and most representative images in the two genres that he has excelled and established himself in: The celebrity portrait and the nude. Dramatically lit black-and-white, full-page photographs of celebrities are juxtaposed with spectacular, highly erotic nudes, including the now-classic six-panel fold-out of the model Tony Ward in different Classical Sculpture-inspired, full-frontal nude poses. The celebrity portraits include Al Pacino, David Bowie, Charlie Sheen, Warren Beatty, Madonna, Rupert Everett, Pee-Wee Herman, Kim Basinger, Robin Williams, Andy Warhol, and Michael Jackson, among many others. An accomplished Hollywood and lifestyle magazine photographer who has done commercial work for HBO, Columbia Pictures, Interview Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Playboy Magazine, LIFE, and Tatler, among others, Greg Gorman's true passions are the charismatic personality of the celebrity and the chiseled perfection of the human form, as only the (his) camera can capture. This breakthrough collection offers definitive and ample proof of Greg Gorman's distinctive style and outstanding mastery of his chosen medium. An absolute "must-have" title for Greg Gorman collectors. This copy is very prominently and beautifully signed, dated, and inscribed in black ink-pen on the flyleaf by the photographer: "For Dieter, Thanks for coming and also for your interest in my work. I hope we can do more projects together in the future. All my best, Greg Gorman 3/27/90". It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. Gorman's handwriting is unusually clean, flowing, and elegant. The recipient, who is named, was one of Greg Gorman's most important client/supporters. This title is a contemporary erotic art photography classic. As far as we know, this is the only such signed and inscribed copy of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing of Volume One available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: Gorman did NOT sign most copies of the book. Copies available online have serious flaws yet command more than $500. A rare signed copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with duotone plates. One of the most brilliant American photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER GREG GORMAN TITLES IN OUR CATALOG) ISBN 1871681006. Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condition: New. MACCORMACK, GEOFF (illustrator). 1st Edition. Hardcover - 1st.Edition/2nd. Print - NEW in Illustrated Boards / No DJ as issued - Signed by Geoff Maccormack on title page - David Bowie: Rock 'n' Roll with Me is Geoff MacCormack's remarkable photographic memoir, charting his lifelong friendship with David Bowie. Images bring MacCormack's stories to life, showing the places he and Bowie inhabited, the people they met and the adventures they shared. Beginning at Burnt Ash Primary school in the mid-1950s, the years go by in a whirlwind of discovering and making music. The book contains nearly 150 photos taken by MacCormack throughout the years, some never seen before: from touring the Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane shows and sailing to New York on a world tour, to Bowie's first major film The Man Who Fell to Earth and the recording of Station to Station and his Thin White Duke persona. David Bowie: Rock 'n' Roll With Me is an incredible story, told with wit and candour. A must for all Bowie fans, it sheds a rare insight into a friendship where two men shared their love for music from the moment they met to their final goodbyes. Signed by Author(s).

And I was smart enough to know to say yes. If I had to name the most talented, enigmatic and audacious star I ever photographed, it would have to be David Bowie. He was a cerebral and searching soul who was always looking to push the boundaries of his art. Even a simple portrait was not simple. David always chose his own direction. It was our choice if we wanted to follow or not - it's a testament to his talent that we did" (Terry O'Neill).

Both David Bowie and Mick Rock have signed on the limitation page which features the number of this edition. [We know the number because it is printed on a label on the outside of the unopened box]. The front cover features a brilliant colorful hologram which shows several views of Bowie depending on the angle you view it. Our accompanying images capture some of those views. THE PRINT: Enclosed in its own separate teal cloth cover, this striking image is a pigment print, 27.7 x 40 cm on 32 x 45 cm paper (10.9 x 15.7 in. on 12.6 x 17.7 in. paper) and is signed by Mick Rock in black felt pen. THE CONTENT: This limited Art Edition brings together the best of Rock s Bowie portfolio with spectacular stage shots as well as intimate backstage portraits. Pictures for press, album jackets, and stills from promo movies sit alongside around 50 percent previously unseen images, offering unprecedented access to the many facets of Bowie s personality and his fame. Through the aloof and approachable, the playful and serious, the candid and contrived, this tribute bursts with the daring and energy of its unique and flamboyant star who defined, and defied, a generation. [Genesis Publications] Also issued in an Art Edition "A" (numbers 1-100) with a different but no less brilliant signed print, and a Collector's edition numbered 201-1972. A beautiful and scarce set.
