The View From Plum Lick by David Dick was published by Plum Lick Publishing in 1992. Not an ex-library copy, this 6" X 9", 227-page, softcover offering is in VG condition. This offering is still in quite nice shape overall, but for some very modest yellowing of text's pages. The book is SIGNED, incidentally, after a brief Inscription, beneath the title on the main Title Page. From Dr. Thomas D. Clark's Foreword, ".With the soul of a poet, the eye of a seasoned Grecian shepherd, and the down to earth reality of a Kentucky dirt farmer, [the author] writes from a deep spiritual affinity with his land and of his place on it. .David Dick writes about the flow of life on the Plum Lick Farm with the graceful casualness of the country days themselves. Plowing, setting tobacco, lambing, being awakened at night by the baying of coon hounds, or just whiling away a soft evening beneath a maple tree, all are a part of life along the creek. The author details the occurrences of incidents, minor and consequential, with the grace and spiritual attachment of an Elizabeth Madox Roberts, of Wendell Berry, or a James Still and Jesse Stuart." I think you get the flavor and tempo of what this book will present, written in a most sincere, loving manner by a man who could truly say that NOT being promoted to the position of national nightly news anchor of CBS News was the best thing that ever happened to him.
