Some slight edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners very slightly rubbed, very slight dust staining to unlaminated jacket, price clipped and price replaced with publisher's sticker (£3.50), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg++ copy. 321pp, illustrated. John Beddoe (1826-1911), was Victorian Britain's foremost anthropologist who specialized in the study of race, craniology, and racial origins. This work is his overview of the racial and sub racial makeup of the British Isles. His primary means of measure was skull and hair/eye colour combinations. His work, now discredited, has of course been largely superseded by modern DNA research.
