Black & White (color scans) illustrations. Collectors often ask what makes the Carol Day comic strip, an obscure and seldom seen newspaper strip from the United Kingdom, so special to a small but growing band of fanatics. For many fans, the art is the hook, and most collectors instantly recognize that this art and this artist are levels above what we usually encounter in a comic strip. This quickly leads people to want to learn and see more. For Carol Day this has been very difficult historically as the strip hasn't been significantly reprinted and it never achieved wide circulation in newspapers. This book presents, for the first time, the full range of Carol Day art, from Wright's first story to his last, with examples from every story. We've gathered 136 outstanding Carol Day examples from across Wright's run to display. All are reproduced from the original art to present the flavour of the strip and the magnitude of Wright's achievement. 84 pages. Size: 12" x 9" (300mm x 232mm). ISBN: 9781913548773. Add to basketHardback. Condition: As New. David Wright (illustrator). Hard Cover. Slingsby Bros, Ink! March 2026. Four complete stories. Limited Edition. Black & White (color scans) illustrations. In the early 1950s David Wright made an unusual career move for a successful commercial and pinup artist he turned to comics. An early product of his new direction was the strip Judy, which he began in 1953 with John Hunter (writing as Peter Meriton) providing scripts. Judy is a standard adventure strip for the time a young, beautiful girl is thrust into danger with her partner, Ricky, and their treasure-hunting adventures take them to exotic locales all over the world in a series of loosely plotted melodramas. Here are the first FOUR Stories, comprising episodes 1-119. The Fanton Package The Zexitcico Treasure The SS Morna Gold The Kalda Diamond Message from the publisher: With our trio of Carol Day story books complete, Slingsby Bros, Ink! is pleased to announce the publication of David Wright's Judy, a nearly-forgotten Carol Day precursor strip. As far as we are aware, this is the first printing of Judy since its original publication in Tit-Bits. Judy is not quite Carol Day, due to weaker plots and cardboard characters, but maintains a strong appeal because of the art and its adventure premise, and it was a great vehicle for Wright's beautiful cheesecake panels. In our view, it's a minor gem by one of the greatest strip artists to practice the art and is well worth fans' attention. Tearsheets are not the ideal source for reprinting strips, but original art and proofs are unavailable (as far as we know they are not extant), and we believe the strip is worth preserving in spite of the limitations of our source material. We have collected the first four Judy stories for this volume and hope you will agree. Although printed in black and white, the source tearsheets are scanned in full colour to help reflect the original artwork. Judy is at the printer now, and we expect it to be in stock in the next few weeks. As with Carol Day Showcase, the Book Palace will fulfill out-of-US orders and Slingsby Bros, Ink! will have copies in their ebay store for US collectors. 144 pages. Size: 12" x 9" (300mm x 232mm). ISBN: 9781913548872. (2 DWJUDY).
