"Nel marzo 1917 Vladimir Ilych Ulyanov (Lenin) andava in esilio, in condizioni di estrema povertà, a Zurigo. Ma nel giro di otto mesi sarebbe diventato il capo di 16000000 persone occupanti circa un sesto della superficie abitata del mondo. Il 9 aprile 1917, con il sostegno delle autorità tedesche, a quel tempo in guerra con la Russia, ritornò nel suo Paese in treno, attraversando Germania, Svezia e Finlandia per raggiungere la stazione Finlandia a San Pietroburgo il 16 aprile. Tornato a San Pietroburgo scrisse un programma di dieci punti, conosciuto come "Le tesi di Aprile". A distanza di cento anni ho creato una cronologia di quelle due settimane della vita di Lenin poco prima degli eventi che cambiarono la Russia e il resto del mondo. Sulle tracce de "Le tesi di Aprile" ho ricreato, in un viaggio vero e proprio, il viaggio epico di Lenin sulla base di documenti trovati presso il RGASPI (Archivio di stato russo per la storia politica e sociale) e libri tra cui "Stazione Finlandia" di Edmund Wilson e "Il treno piombato" di Michael Pearson." / "In March 1917 Vladimir Ilych Ulyanov (LENIN) was leaving exiled and in poverty in Zurich. Within eight months he assumed the leadership on 16000000 people occupying one-sixth of inhabited surface of the world. On April 9th 1917, with the support of German authorities, at that time in war with Russia, he travelled back to his own country on a train across Germany, Sweden and Finland to reach Finland Station in St. Petersburg on April 16th. By the time he was back in St Petersburg he wrote a ten points program known as "The April Theses". 100 year later I created a chronology of that 2 weeks of Lenin's life just before the events that changed Russia and the entire world. In search of the original draft of "The April Theses" I recreated and sometime reacted on a real non-invented trip Lenin's epic journey on the base of archival documents found it at the R.G.A.S.P.I (Political History Russian State Archive of Political History ) and historical books including "To Finland Station" by Edmund Wilson and "The sealed train" by Michael Pearson.". Ma Dusha è anche sinonimo di uomo. Dusha è il titolo di questo viaggio senza fine attraverso la Russia. Winston Churchill definì la Russia ?un enigma avvolto nel mistero all'interno di un indovinello? Altri hanno descritto i russi semplicemente come ?tristi napoletani? Un proverbio locale dice che i russi assomigliano agli europei nei lineamenti, ma agli asiatici nella mentalità. In conclusione, il carattere del popolo russo rimane un mistero per tutti tranne che per chi è nato lì. Dusha, credo, è quanto di più vicino si sia mai arrivati a colmare questo divario. Lasciandomi alle spalle le grandi città e concentrandomi invece sulle province russe, ho fatto osservazioni attente ed evitato giudizi morali, trattando il mio soggetto con rispetto ed empatia. Ho scoperto tenerezza, gioia e fascino nella sua estrema povertà e semplicità, mostrando una profonda comprensione per le emozioni dei suoi uomini e delle sue donne. Gli enormi edifici grigi e anonimi si trasformano nelle immagini metafisiche di De Chirico; I sovietici, considerati pericolosi e nostalgici, razzisti e nazionalisti, vengono percepiti come orfani di un passato in cui credono ciecamente, e gli arazzi kitsch appesi alle pareti degli hotel economici diventano Arte. All'improvviso, questa parte della Russia e la sua gente diventano incredibilmente belle e facilmente identificabili come i nostri vicini di casa.
