This major screen (and later stage) star of the 1930s and '40s starred in "Jezebel," for which she won the 1938 Academy Award for Best Actress. IPS, 8" X 11", n.p., n.d. Flat finish, black-and-white scene (page removed from book; other images on verso) from an unidentified 1930s film ("Jezebel"?) showing Davis full-length in ornate floor-length Victorian dress standing before lace-curtained windows, inscribed huge and bold just below center "Hello to / Terry Kocsett / Bette Davis" in black fineline. Quite striking -- Davis at the height of her fame, signed later in life.
unbound. Signed black and white portrait photograph of actress Bette Davis. Circa 1942. Ruth Elizabeth "Bette" Davis was an American actress of film, television, and theater. Regarded as one of the greatest actresses in Hollywood history, she was noted for her willingness to play unsympathetic, sardonic characters and was known for her performances in a range of film genres, from contemporary crime melodramas to historical and period films and occasional comedies, although her greatest successes were her roles in romantic dramas. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress twice, was the first person to accrue ten Academy Award nominations (and one write-in) for acting, and was the first woman to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute.
