No Binding. Condition: Fine. An original oil on canvas board by artist Davis MacPherson Jones. The painting is signed Davis Jones in pencil verso and Davis MacPherson Jones in pencil on the reverse side of the frame. "Rockport, Mass," either the title or setting of the work, is written in the same hand above the artist's signature. The dimensions are 12 x 16 inches. According to Asco Art Materials, which is still in operation, its label verso indicates that the canvas board dates from the 1940s. At that time, Rockport was a popular artists' colony. Presumably an American and talented amateur, the biography of Davis Jones is unknown to this dealer. The work is an impressionistic representation of an interior and its furnishings, including a framed seascape on the wall. The painting has been cleaned, and, given the notation, this is likely the original frame. It was retouched by the same restorer. The outside dimensions of the frame are 16 5/8 x 20 5/8 inches.
