Abridged reprint. 573 pages. Hardcover: H 21cm x L 14cm. No dust jacket (as issued). Gray cloth lightly soiled; black spine lettering remains bright. Past owner's ink inscription on front free endpaper; front pastedown presentation ink inscription to Mississippi Congressman Webb Franklin from May 1986 Mississippi Division Sons of Confederate Veterans. Interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm. Laid-in at rear endpapers is a creased 1985 brochure for the Jefferson Davis shrine Beauvoir on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Republican U.S. Representative Webb Franklin [William Webster Franklin] of Greenwood, Mississippi served in the 98th (1983-1985) and 99th (1985-1987) Congresses - the book was acquired directly from his house sale in August 2018 which likely means the aforementioned ownership inscription predates the presentation inscription and therefore kudos to the Sons of Confederate Veterans for gifting an albeit minimally used book.
