Protest poster calling for a massive demonstration on the day of Queen Beatrix's coronation, April 30, 1980. The photographic illustration…dates from March 10, 1966, when a smoke bomb was detonated during the marriage ceremony of Beatrix and Claus von Amsberg. The poster reminds participants to come prepared with helmets, etc. In fact, the protest would devolve into a riot with the public clashing against mounted and riot police, one man beaten so badly he would lose his hearing.

Poster issued on the occasion of Pope Paul II's visit to the Netherlands in May, 1985, in which several radical organizations attempted to incite an assassination, the present poster depicting a p…hotograph of the Pope complete with swastika and seemingly in the middle of giving a far right salute, his head in crosshairs, below a photograph of a crowd charging a line of riot police. The Pope's visit to the Lowlands was one of the most unpopular of his international visits in the early years of his papacy. A contemporary poll found that the majority of Dutch catholics disagreed with the Church's rulings on abortion, birth control, divorce, priestly celibacy, and the ban on the ordination of women to the priesthood, inciting protests leading up to the visit. (See the Chicago Tribune, May 10, 1985). The present poster calls for the protestors to "Breek door het kordon! Laat het duidelijk zijn: Neem helm, stok en molotovs mee!" [Break through the barrier! Make a point: Bring helmet, stick, and molotovs along!] IISH only in OCLC as of June, 2017.
