Volume in-8° (17,5 x 25 cm), cartonnage éditeur (percaline rouge avec motifs floraux dorés contourés de noir, dos décoré idem, trois tranches dorées, 254p, un frontispice dessiné légendé "les Voyageurs", illustré de 33 gravures dans et hors-texte.Cette édition, présentée comme "nouvelle" s'inscrit dans la collection:Bibliothèque des écoles et des familles. Il s'agit d'un voyage imaginaire en ballon, sans doute très inspiré par le succés de CINQ SEMAINES EN BALLON de Jules VERNE ). Mais la fiction s'appuie sur une base de documents très réels, dans la tradition des romans d'aventures de cette époque. Du reste, l'auteur Léo DEX, dont le vrai nom était Édouard Deburaux (1864-1904) était un passionné d'aérostats et a écrit de nombreux ouvrages consacrés aux voyages en ballon.Cet exemplaire, qui ne porte aucune mention d'institution scolaire précise, était sans doute destiné par Hachette à devenir un livre de Prix.Comme souvent pour ce type d'édition, les ors de la reliure sont très oxydés voir éteints. Mais la reliure est toujours bien compacte et les mors sont en très bon état.
