He acquired Lamarck's specimens from the Massena collection for his own cabinet, and gave the work of putting the publication together ("mis en ouvrage") to Chenu. The descriptions are by Lamarck. According to Internet sources, the artist Jean-Gabriel Prêtre (1768-1849) did most of the shells, a few were by René Ménard (1827-1887).
