Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Abnutzung / Risse - leicht. This book, written by leading scholars, provides stimulating coverage of topical issues in the field of small business and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship has already been shown to be a significant source of innovation and economic development but the variations in the contribution at the individual, organisational, regional and national levels remain relatively unexplored. The types of contributions - behavioural, economic and social - are also relatively new areas for empirical scrutiny and theoretical development. This anthology provides in-depth analyses of entrepreneurship across Europe and demonstrates the importance of context - the geographical, political and socio-economic milieu within which entrepreneurship takes place. Entrepreneurship, People and Organisations will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners and policy analysts in the fields of entrepreneurship, business, management and social policy.

Hardback. Condition: New. How and why are firms created, expanded and terminated by entrepreneurs in the knowledge intensive economy? The authors show these entrepreneurship processes are firmly embedded in a given social and economic context, that shapes the process by which some individuals discover entrepreneurial opportunities, creating new firms that sometimes grow to remarkable size, but more often stay mundane or eventually exit. The authors expertly provide a theoretical and empirical examination of new knowledge intensive firms over their whole life cycle using a unique set of matched employee-employer data containing over three million individuals and over 200,000 firms. With theoretical pillars anchored in industrial organization economics, evolutionary organization theory, and entrepreneurship research, this book presents a detailed investigation of the entrepreneurial processes of firm entry, growth, and their eventual demise. This insightful book will prove to be invaluable for business policymakers as well as postgraduate students and researchers in management, economics, and entrepreneurship.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Beaufort Scale is an empirical measure for describing wind speed based mainly on observed sea conditions. Its full name is the Beaufort Wind Force Scale. The scale was created in 1806 by Sir Francis Beaufort, an Irish-born British admiral and hydrographer. The scale that carries Beaufort's name had a long and complex evolution, from the previous work of others, to when Beaufort was a top administrator in the Royal Navy in the 1830s. In the early 19th Century, naval officers made regular weather observations, but there was no standard scale and so they could be very subjective - one man's 'stiff breeze' might be another's 'soft breeze'. Beaufort succeeded in standardizing the scale. The initial scale of thirteen classes (zero to twelve) did not reference wind speed numbers but related qualitative wind conditions to effects on the sails of a man-of-war, then the main ship of the Royal Navy, from 'just sufficient to give steerage' to 'that which no canvas sails could withstand.' At zero, all his sails would be up; at six, half of his sails would have been taken down; and at twelve, all sails would be stowed away. 76 pp. Englisch.
