Paperback. 18.5 × 12.5cm, 82pp. This copy signed by Denys Blakelock to Kaye [Webb], the British publisher & editor, to the inside front cover, and with a handwritten letter from Denys to Kaye loosely inserted. The letter reads "January 30, 1964. My Dear kaye, I hope you enjoyed your birthday party as much as I did. Thank you so much. Here is one of the first copies of my book which arrived today, it's not for Australia or America but for you. I hope, if you've time to read it, you'll like it & think the finished article looks pure, well. I've written to Lionel (?) and Eric Hiscock as you kindly said I ought. My love to you, yours ever, Denys". From the back cover: "Denys Blakelock has long been known as a distinguished actor and as a pioneer in radio and television. It is, however, only in the last decade that his reputation has grown as a writer and poet, as an instructor in the drama teaching world, and as an authority on diction and Standard English. His first book, Advice To A Player, Letters to a Young Actor, could be described as a standard work. It is presented as a parting gift to students of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where the author taught diction and audition technique from 1947-1962. These further letters of advice are of a maturer nature. They cover a wider field and should be of assistance to actors of all ages, to teachers and to anyone interested in Speech and in the Art of Acting." Condition: This copy is in good plus condition. There is light wear to the covers and tanning to the page edges but otherwise a solid copy. Signed by Author(s). …
