John DePol (illustrator). First Edition. 8vo, pp. 241. Wood engraving by Jophn DePol. A fine copy in publisher's printed wraps. Signed by the author. William Jay Smith was born in Winnfield, Louisiana. He was brought up at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, south of St. Louis. Smith received his A.B. and M.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, and continued his studies at Columbia University, and Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. Smith is the author of ten collections of poetry of which two were finalists for the National Book Award. He was appointed the nineteenth Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 1968 to 1970.

This is a nice copy of a biblical fiction history called Fisherman of Galilee, copyright 1959, hard cover, dust jacket, written by Aileen Fisher, with wood engravings by John DePol. The book has minor flaw except the usual church library markings, otherwise in good condition with tight binding, in a protective mylar wrap and 223 pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
