Feel free to inquire for photos or more details. --- This volume examines how the special effects for AP Films and Century 21 productions - from Supercar through Thunderbirds to UFO - were produced, drawing on interviews conducted with Derek Meddings and a number of his assistants. The subtitle sets out the scope of the shows treated: Thunderbirds, Fireball XL5, Supercar, Stingray, Captain Scarlet, Secret Service, Joe 90, and UFO. Illustrations throughout include both behind-the-scenes photographs and concept art. The text was ghostwritten for Meddings by Sam Denham under the pen name Sam Mitchell. Photographs are credited to ITC Entertainment Group Ltd, with line drawings supplied by Derek Meddings. Contributors consulted for research include John Read, Mary Turner, David Elliott, Alan Pattillo, Desmond Saunders, David Lane, Roger Woodburn, Bob Bell, Keith Wilson, Brian Johnson, Ian Scoones, Shaun Whittacker-Cook, Peter Wragg, Richard Conway, Wag Evans, Ray Brown, Peter Aston, and Mike Trim, with further photographic material drawn from the British Film Institute, Polygram Video, TV Zone, Century 21 magazine, and others.
