Photograph
Two vintage publicity photographs of actress Heather Angel, circa 1933, each with a Fox Films stamp on the verso crediting photographer Ray Jones, and one with a mimeo snipe on the verso describing Angel's outfit for the 1933 film "Charlie Chan's Greatest Case." Film based on the 1925 Charlie Chan novel, "The House Without a Key," by Earl Derr Biggers. From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. Angel was a British actress who starred in over 50 films between 1931 and 1979. She is perhaps best known for "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" (1935), "The Three Musketeers" (1935), "The Informer" (1935), and "The Last of the Mohicans" (1936), as well as providing the voices of Wendy's mother in Walt Disney's "Peter Pan" (1953) and Alice's sister in Walt Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" (1951). In 1933 Angel starred in three films for Fox Films, "Charlie Chan's Greatest Case," "Berkeley Square," and "Pilgrimage." 7.75 x 9.5 inches and 7.5 x 9.75 inches. Near Fine.
