This work constitutes a publication of the course given by Desgodet at the Royal Academy of Architecture. He published "Les Edifices antiques de Rome Dessines et measures tres exactement" in 1682. It provided detailed engravings of the monuments and antiquities of Rome to serve French artists and architects.
