Mechelen, 1876, goldplated silver medal, with engraved text. Name of designer illegible (medal signed on the reverse side, lower end). Diameter 45 mm, loosely inserted in a gilded bronze ring (72 mm outerdiameter) On the verso side : the coat of arms of Mechelen held by two winged dragons. On the reverse the txt '' Ville de Mali…nes, témoignage de satisfaction décerné à Mr. Hubert Dessain médaillé à l'Expo. de Philadelphia 1876''. Hubert Dessain, successor of P.J. Hanicq was a priveleged publisher-printer of Roman Catholic liturgy books. The company exported these books to Catholic countries all over the world. Their products were of a very high quality, which is corroborated by the fact that they also were awarded a gold medal at the Paris 1878 Exhibition. .(Bibliog.
