First Edition
13p, staple-bound. Very good, with minor wear to edges, slight creasing, and a small closed tear on edge of last page (not affecting text). Hand correction to issue # on cover. A newsletter from a Walden Two group active in the Atlanta area during the 1960s, inspired by the 1948 utopian novel "Walden Two" from behavioral psychologist B.F. Skinner, who wrote of an experimental community designed around principles of behaviorism to create harmony and productivity. This issue includes: a poem by English naturalist & explorer Sir William Dampier, thoughts from Einstein, a travel report (June 1-9), a proposal for government, speculations on the economy of Walden Two, background information concerning the movement, living research inc., a national intentional community convention to be held in August called "Waldenwoods", the baby box, and a "look at looking backward." The travel report is of particular interest, as members/contributors of the Walden Two group behind this newsletter discuss meeting with one of the founders of the Koinonia Community in Albany, GA and Koinonia's early decision to racially integrate being met with violence and backlash by their surrounding community. They then travelled through Missouri and Indiana where they met with members of a Rappite and Owenite Community "New Haven", and made several other stops to visit communally run endeavors. Scarce to market.
