Soft cover. Condition: Poor. No Jacket. Republished. Assumed to have been published by Yuille's but certainly printed by them. Written by Fr Devas, OP, PG, MC (per the book) and later OBE, he spent many years in the Caribbean, wrote much on Grenada, died in 1975 and is buried in Barbados. xvi + 77 pages, this edition published c…a 1954 per Mitchell's West Indian Bibliography, which ties in with the clues offered in the Foreword. though no date formally stated in book. A first edition had been published in 1942, again per the Foreword. This book comprises the Foreword, Preface to the First Edition and then three sections of birds: Sea Birds, Water Birds and Land Birds. In total, approx 140 bird species are described, augmented by a few illustrations. All eminently readable. Pretty fair condition overall though formally assessed as "poor" - red covers sl marked, top and esp bottom corners somewhat dog-eared, few creases and, potential buyers please note (unlike one [near!] buyer who did not and then acted very unreasonably!), one small hole ca 4mm diameter in centre of page ix (Foreword) and page x (first of Preface). An uncommon title.
