Ce livre, issu de deux journées d'études qui se sont tenues à Bordeaux, a pour ambition de proposer une première vue d'ensemble sur cette question. Deux aspects, par ailleurs indissociables et complémentaires, y sont considérés : d'une part, les continuités et discontinuités entre César et Auguste, ce qui engage avant tout à examiner leurs pratiques politiques ; d'autre part, la représentation de César à l'époque augustéenne, ce qui confronte avec l'image officielle de celui-ci dans l'idéologie officielle, dans la littérature (et même dans les différents genres littéraires), mais également dans l'art (sculpture). Un intérêt particulier est aussi apporté aux opinions des chercheurs antérieurs. Après une première contribution spécialement consacrée à une telle approche historiographique, le livre comprend trois parties : la première considère divers aspects généraux du lien entre César et Auguste ; la deuxième propose des approches régionales ; la troisième s'attache aux principales sources littéraires. // If the exploitation of Caesar's name and legacy has already been the object of many casual observations and limited studies (sometimes going in various directions), a general survey of the question is still lacking. This book is the product of a two-day conference held at Bordeaux. Its aim is to propose a first overall assessment of the question. Two aspects, deeply linked and supplementing each other, are considered: on the one hand, continuities and discontinuities between Caesar and Augustus which leads to examine first of all their political practices; on the other, Caesar's representation in Augustan times which forces to tackle the question of his image in the official ideology, in literature (and even in the several literary genres), but also in art (sculpture).
