A really nice book , dust jacket very good but does have two, one inch tears top edge of the back of the dust jacket with an inch of surface removal, top edge, see pictures. Life was never dull for Midgie. This tiny duck was much loved by his owner, a hunter named Bill and Midgie returned that love. He learned the tricks the hunter taught him; he fetched the paper and fetched his own food. They fished and walked and hunted together. It was fun. Evan a hawk could not frighted midgie for long. A charming story that all animal lovers would enjoy and others too, and the illustrations are very enjoyable, drawings in turqoise green and brown. Ralph Devoe is in command of one of the army's largest hospitals for the care of the wounded. His life has been a crowded one, serving his country, in the Philippies, and in France. He was born in Pennsylvania and then moved at an early age to Seattle, Washington. He recieved his degree in medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Then followd a distinguished career in the United States Army. Calling All Ducks was his first book for children, Adventures of Midgie its sequel. Nils Hogner is one of the country's most distinguished mural painters. He was born in Massachuetts and studied art at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and abroad. In the field of book illustration he as achieved a fine reputation for his drawings of animals and birds, of which Calling All Ducks and Adventures of Midgie are splendid examples.
