3 volumes in 2. 32x22 cm. Contemporary green cloth, mildly worn and stained. [225]-416, 416; 416 pp. Heavily illustrated bound volumes containing 64 issues of this very long-lived publication. It ran under this name from 1877 to 1971. It contains articles on its title subjects, carpentry, building and architecture, but also on related technological and social news which were related. There are many pieces on trade unions and the economics of working people. Each issue listed new patents in fields relevant to carpenters, buildings, joines, decorators, painters, plumbers, gas fitters, architects, etc. This periodical did not restrict itself to British subjects, as covers illustrating a college at Cornell University and the Bridgeport and Detroit factories of the American Zinc Bronze Works, among others, demonstrate.
