Neat penciled dedication to front free endpaper dated 1858, stained, no other names or writing. First title page with engraving to the center, hand-colored, margins darkened, staining into image not affecting overall appearance, dated 1854. Second title page in type only, stained, dated 1854. Verso copyright page dated, 1853, printed by Smith & Peters, Philadelphia. Next several leaves stained. Three more text engravings, hand-colored. 160 numbered pages, scattered foxing, tight in the binding. First American edition.
