No Binding. Condition: Fine. Ballade de Noel - Poésie de Jean Richepin and Musique de Dèsire Dihau. This is a French mélodie sheet music (partition) from the late 1890s, published by C. Joubert in Paris. The poem Ballade de Noël comes from Jean Richepin's La Chanson des gueux (1876), set to music by Désiré Dihau, and was performed by the singer Yvain at the Carillon, a famous Parisian café-chanson. The dedication "A Madame Bertrand" indicates a personal dedication on this copy. This document is in excellent condition. There is no wear or blemishes. Cover illustrated with Toulouse-Lautrec crayon lithograph with his monogram in the stone (behind "Dihau,") text added by another hand. Printed in black on wove paper by Bigeard et fils, Paris. Margins minimally toned, mounting tape remains front and back. Else crisp and bright with intact fold. Toulouse-Lautrec created lithographs to illustrate fourteen song sheets in the publisher's series Mélodies de Désiré Dihau. Joubert published several variants of this sheet, some without the music. This later variant is complete and has the text "Chantée par Yvain au Carillon." The cover was re-published by H. Lefèbvre in 1935 and by A. C. Mazo in 1978.
