Wooden jigsaw puzzle, 210 x 280 mm. lacking one piece and with the paper peeling from several others. Illustrated with hand coloured wood engravings with a long poem addressed to "My Daughter!" Enclosed within a contemporary, but probably not original wooden box with a sliding top. The poem is the story of a mother's love for her daughter from newly born until the mother's death where the daughter mourns by her mother's grave.

Large wooden dissected puzzle with chromolithograph illustrations. Each double sided jigsaw 280 x 530 mm. and showing 7 scenes from the book. Book included, spine repaired, and contained in the original box with glazed pictorial sliding lid. Probably issued at the time of Buffalo Bill's Wild West tours of Europe between 1887 - 92, capitalising on their huge popularity.
