Eaton, the end paper and dated 1898, no other markings, wear to head of spine, 1/4" chip to base of spine, small rubbed spot to cover, light foxing to end paper,s thus Good used copy; no dust jacket probably as published. Published by James Pott with designs and illustrations furnished by Tiffany and Company. 26 x 20cm, beige texture cover with central embossed medallion, [i-iv] [1-70 8- 38pp [39-40], then 11 tissued-protected portraits of rectors of the church since its founding printed to rectos only, then 17 pages showing the church buildings over the centuries with a colophone page at the end. Most of these are tissued-protected as well but 4 plates do not have the tissue paper. The Tiffany designs are probably for the illuminated title page, the illuminated Bicentennial page and the B&W Churches of Trinity Parish page which introduces the plates of the church buildings. Trinity Church at 79 Broadway, Lower Manhattan, is a historic, active parish church in the Episcopal Diocese of New York. Trinity Church is at the intersection of Wall Street and Broadway, in New York. Morgan Dix (November 1, 1827 in New York City April 29, 1908) was educated at Columbia College and the General Theological Seminary. For almost fifty-three years, he was identified with Trinity Church, New York, of which he became assistant minister in 1855 and rector in 1862. He objected to the entrance of girls into universities, because it was not "proper for young women to be exposed to the gaze of young men, many of whom were less bent upon learning than upon amusement." Arthur Wentworth Hamilton EatonM.A., D.C.L., poet, priest, educator and historian, was born at Kentville, Nova Scotia, and was for years the Professor of English Literature in a New York college where he gained a wide reputation as an educator.
