From the English Men of Letters series. Upper text block edge gilt. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Slight gutter cracking. Rear hinge is heavily split with exposed netting. Otherwise, a firm binding. Prices in pencil to front pastedown. Foxing and tanning more noticeable towards start and end of book and on text block edges. Slight smudges to text block edges. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall, more so to rear. Spine slightly concave. Gilt is bright. Spine is a little sunned.

Second Edition. Very good copy in the original gilt-blocked, decorated cloth. Spine bands and panel edges somewhat dulled and rubbed as with age. Remains quite well-preserved overall.
