Arranged with the Play from which each quotation is drawn at top of page and a heading over each one in Bold Typr for ease of Reference. Green cloth cover with Gilt central Title medallion on front and Gilt lettering to spine. All page edges Gilt. Frontispiece has a Black & Red Illustration of the World as a stage with the "Players" upon it. 377 Pages, 170g, 4 1/2" Tall. Undated Edition, late 19th C. Some edge wear to cover and fraying at spine ends and tips of corners. Closed tear down one side of spine. Front hinge cracked. Previous owner's name on reverse of endpaper. Pages a little darkened but in very good, clean conition. Size: 32mo - over 4" - 5" tall.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and numerous vignette illustrations throughout.English Anglican clergyman and a man of letters William Dodd first published this anthology of excerpts from Shakespeare in 1752, with passages chosen from his comedies, histories and tragedies.Dodd was hanged for forgery in 177, at Tyburn.Retaining the original half title. In a tree calf binding, with gilt detailing. Areas of rubbing towards front board tail, with rubbing to tail of front joint. Small loss of calf towards back strip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good. book.
