Condition: Very Good. Likely California: 1956. Quarto (30.5cm); black yarn-stitched card wrappers with manuscript title and pictorial element to upper cover; [18]ll., including eight leaves of manuscript, two original drawings in color pencil on black construction paper, five news clippings; and ten additional illustrated cut-outs from various sources. Moderate wear to wrapper margins with a few small closed tears and wrinkling, else Very Good, contents clean and sound. Date of production based on the news clippings that still retain their dates, all of them from 1956. School report by California sixth-grader Donna Everitts on the solar system, including sections on the planets, the moon ("No living thing can live on the moon because it has no air or water on it"), the sun, and the stars, with special emphasis on Mars--one of the news clippings promises that "Space Rocket Trip to Mars Estimated at 400 Days" (off by a decade). Everitts received an "A" and a paperclipped in note of praise from the teacher. We find one record for Donna Everitts: a 1969 marriage license from Riverside, California, listing both the bride and groom as 23 years old.
