The book is an account of China in the time of the Han dynasty, examining the triumph of Confucianism and the wars and the politics of the period. The titla of the book and its general focus comes from the discoveries in 1968 of the excavation of the Man Ch'eng tombs in which were discovered the bodies of Prince Liu Sheng and of his consort Princess Tou Wan, each covered from head to foot in suits of finely-carved and interlocking jade pieces held together by wires of gold and silver.

This English soccer star played striker for Lincoln City (1946-47) and Sheffield Wednesday (1947-53), where his record-setting goal scoring came to an end when a collision with an opposing goalkeeper caused a bad leg break that got infected and required amputation. Large and bold signature in blue ballpoint on a special heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., dated 1980 September 6 in his hand. Near fine. With 5½" X 3¼" printed "With the Compliments / of / Sheffield United Promotions" slip and original envelope.
