This English soccer star played striker for Lincoln City (1946-47) and Sheffield Wednesday (1947-53), where his record-setting goal scoring came to an end when a collision with an opposing goalkeeper caused a bad leg break that got infected and required amputation. Large and bold signature in blue ballpoint on a special heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., dated 1980 September 6 in his hand. Near fine. With 5½" X 3¼" printed "With the Compliments / of / Sheffield United Promotions" slip and original envelope.
