Very good in bright gilt lettered ruled and illustrated Morocco leather bound over wide weave, gilt embossed cloth, bright gilt dentelles to both boards at leather corners and spine. Great shelf presence featuring 5 bright gilt ruled raised bands and 5 gilt floral scrolled decorated compartments, corners and spine very gently rubbed, all edges very bright gilt. A most handsome volumes and a great addition to the library of reader, scholar and collector alike, or a good gift. Croqumitaine is a bogeyman liable to bite or eat the hands and noses of children (those parts most susceptible to frostbite!). Tales of Croqumitaine were told in order to scare children and make them thus wiser. Ernest LEpine weaves an epic tale of the exploits of Emperor Charlemagne with the Saracens. Mitaine, a brave young girl, stands against a dark faceless enemy.
