Second edition of the famous account of a trip to the Holy Land made from November 1651 to November 1652 by Father Jean Doubdan, canon of Saint Paul Church in Saint-Denis. The author begins his work with an interesting account of the conditions of his journey which took him from St Denis to Lyon, Avignon, Marseille, Cyprus until his disembarkation at the port of Acre or begins his journey in the Middle East. Not only does the traveler visit the Holy Places in the light of the Gospels, but he does not omit to describe the countries and cities through which they live and the customs of the inhabitants. Much of the interest of his work lies in the spontaneity of his story. He describes the customs and way of life of Eastern Christians. P1-21.
