Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Set during an alternate history of post-World War II United States, the series follows events after an airborne alien virus is released over New York City in 1946 and eventually infects tens of thousands globally. The virus, designed to rewrite DNA, was developed as a bioweapon by a noble family on the planet Takis, and it is taken to Earth to test on humans, who are genetically identical to the people of Takis. Dr. Tachyon, a member of this family, objects and attempts to stop them. However, his attempt crashes their ship, releasing the virus. The virus affects each individual differently, and it becomes known as the Wild Card virus because of these "random and unpredictable" symptoms. It kills 90% of those who contract it and mutates the remaining percentage. Of that remainder, 9% are Jokers, who develop minor or crippling physical conditions. 1% are Aces, who remain human or mostly human in appearance but develop superhuman abilities; Aces whose abilities are too trivial or specific to be generally valuable are called Deuces. Featuring the work of writer, George R. R. Martin, who is best known for his series of epic fantasy novels, A Song of Ice and Fire, which was later adapted into the HBO series Game of Thrones. Trade Paperback reprints/collects: Wild Cards (1990) Issues #1-4. Epic Comics - Trade Paperback is bagged & boarded and will be carefully / securely packaged then shipped via USPS Priority Mail to ensure that it arrives to you perfectly and quickly. Collectible Entertainment note: Trade Paperback is Fine + condition. Very Nice! Please See Scans!! A must have for any serious Wild Cards collector and/or enthusiast. A fun & entertaining read. Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Canada is changing. The question is-are we paying attention Born in 1958, Doug Rogers has spent a lifetime watching Canada grow, evolve, and quietly redefine itself. What once felt stable and predictable has shifted into something far more uncertain. From the calm confidence of post-war Canada to the economic shocks, cultural shifts, and global tensions of today, Canada at a Crossroads connects the dots through one man's lived experience. This is not a history lesson. It is a reflection from someone who has seen the country change from the inside. As global pressures rise and the relationship with the United States grows more complex, Canadians are beginning to ask harder questions about identity, sovereignty, and the future. Questions that can no longer be ignored.Doug Rogers brings a grounded, thoughtful voice to those questions. Drawing from decades of real-world experience and conversations with people from around the globe, he offers a perspective that is both personal and unmistakably Canadian. This is not about politics. It is about awareness. It is about understanding where we are.And deciding what comes next.Doug Rogers is a Vancouver-based author, retired railway professional, and editorial voice who continues to share his perspective on Canadian life, identity, and the challenges shaping our future. If Canada is at a crossroads, the real question is-who is paying attention, and who is willing to stand for it.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - What does it mean to be Canadian in the shadow of a superpower In NORTH of OPINION, Doug Rogers, a retired Canadian observer with decades of lived experience and a sharp editorial eye, pulls no punches in this powerful collection of essays exploring the evolving international relations and the political rift between Canada and the United States. From Trump-era trade wars and punitive tariffs to the unsettling rhetoric of Canada as the '51st State,' Rogers offers a uniquely Canadian voice of clarity, resistance, and resilience. He examines the rise of authoritarianism south of the border, the weaponization of truth, and the global consequences of American division, all while shining a light on Canada's quiet, determined push to chart its own democratic course. With wit, wisdom, and an unwavering sense of purpose, this book challenges readers to reflect on where we stand, what we stand for, and why Canada must stand apart. Whether you're a concerned citizen, a curious neighbour, or someone seeking hope in a time of political uncertainty, this is your invitation to step out of the noise and listen to a voice north of opinion. This isn't just commentary. It's a call to vigilance. A celebration of sovereignty. And a blueprint for courage in a world teetering on the edge. Note: This book represents the authors point of view at the time of publishing (2024) and may not accurately portray the political climate in subsequent years.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - I Lived, I Loved, I Changed My MindThe Life & Loves of Alma RogersBorn in 1926 to Mennonite immigrants who fled turmoil in what is now Ukraine, Alma Rogers grew up on the Saskatchewan prairie in a world shaped by faith, hard work, and community. She began life believing what she was taught. She ended life thinking for herself. This deeply personal Canadian memoir traces one woman's journey through nearly a century of change - from Depression-era prairie childhood to political life in Ottawa, from raising nine children to rebuilding life after divorce, from traditional Christianity to a wider, more compassionate spirituality.Along the way, Alma writes candidly about: - Growing up Mennonite in rural Saskatchewan- Immigration roots and prairie resilience- Life inside Canadian federal politics in the 1960s- The monarchy, the flag debate, and national identity- Losing two children and living with grief- Accepting and embracing her gay son- Questioning religion without abandoning love- Aging with humour, independence, and clarityHer voice is warm, observant, and quietly fearless. She does not attack institutions in anger. She simply outgrows them. She does not cling to certainty. She chooses compassion instead. At ninety years old, Alma wrote this book in her own words. She believed one thing above all: God is love.Kindness matters. And changing your mind is not weakness - it is growth. For readers who appreciate: - Prairie family histories- Spiritual journeys beyond dogma- Canadian social history- Late-life wisdom- Multigenerational family memoirs- Stories of mothers who choose humanity over doctrineAlma lived ninety-seven years. She lived fully. She loved fiercely. And yes, she changed her mind. That, she believed, was the point.…
