Published in January 1904, this is a 156 page hardback trade catalogue from Down Bros Ltd. illustrating some of their range of surgical instruments and appliances, measuring 9.75 inches tall approx. The covers are generally darkened with staining, marking and some surface paper loss on spine and corners, internally staining to inner edge of front cover and title page, this staining affects the first 10 or so pages before disappearing, last few pages unopened along leading edge, some marking to endpapers else in good acceptable condition.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. 10" x 7", 2,001pp + indexes. Illustrated throughout. Both volumes have splits in the cloth along the spine, but the contents are in good condition. Lacking the price lists.

A smart copy of the price list and trade catalogue of hospital supplies and equipment from 1952 of Down Bros. and Mayer & Phelps, LTD. The catalogue is illustrated throughout.The price list is slipped in a folder to the rear.With Ophthalmology Supplement January, 1953 tipped into the front. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Near Fine. book.

First edition thus. A nice copy of this catalogue. The company had just received the Grand Prix at the Paris Exhibition of 1900, and the medal is shown to the front board. Clean green cloth, with gilt titles and decoration. This is a thick, heavy book (1345 pages) and the binding to the front hinge has become weakened. This has been repaired with archival tape, but is still delicate. There are eight photographic plates to the front of the catalogue, showing the factories of Down Brothers. Then are catalogued and described 8757 items of medical usage, with prices and for the majority with an engraved illustration. The pages are a little darkened, particularly to the page edges. An impressive catalogue of surgical instruments including aseptic hospital furniture and a large number of original models manufactured and sold by Down Bros. This is a library copy from the university of Montpelier, with small library stamps to each of the plates and the title page. 24.5cm x 17cm,.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. July 1929 edition. Complete with 3028pp + 77pp index, illustrated throughout. Rubbing to edges of the covers and general dulling to the covers, and gilt titles. Front hinge cracked, but binding holding firm, internally clean and unmarked.

Volume 1 (1952) and Volume 11 (1955). 2001 pages in 2 volumes. Appliances are illustrated throughout. Volume 1 has library marking on fore-edges. Some wear to blue cloth. Linen pockets inside back covers appear designed to hold price lists but none included. Very weighty tomes and additional postage rates will apply.
