Contents complete, each with a folding hand coloured plate, are the following: The Field of Footsteps; The Sorceress; Eily O'Connor or the Foster Brother; The Evil Eye; Twn John Catty the Welsh Rob Roy; The Victim of St.Vincent; Pedlar's Acre or the Wife of Seven Husbands; The Bottle Imp. The last title, 'The Bottle Imp' is missing the title page but the frontispiece is present.The cover has light wear and some rubbing, otherwise a very nice clean tight edition. Size 108 x 68mm [3.25 x 2.75 inches] John Duncombe was a well-known London printer and bookseller based in Little Queen Street, Holborn, specialising in theatrical, sensational, and popular literature. The Dramatic Tales were a popular series published in a small format for the masses. They were sold unbound in parts or as a small collection. Short quick stories which were often Gothic or melodramatic in nature.
