Antoinette Josephine Franoise Anne Symon de Latreiche (1822-1890) was a writer of various ŌmoralityĶ books, including the present work. Fleurs de LÕHistoire is a collection of historical stories intended for a juvenile audience. Most of the stories are set in France during the Middle Ages. Large octavo. [4], iii, [1, blank], 437, [1, blank], [1, table] pp. Tinted lithographic frontispiece; eighteen tinted lithographic plates by [Jean-Baptiste] David. Navy blue cloth stamped decoratively in gilt and various colors with gilt spine. All edges gilt. Binding extremities slightly rubbed. Minor bump to rear board. Light foxing. A fine, bright copy in publisherÕs decorative cloth binding. First edition. Jean-Baptiste ŌJulesĶ David (1808-1892) was a French painter and lithographer. His illustrations appeared in numerous books and magazines, though he was especially known for his illustrations of contemporary Parisian fashions.
