Inscribed from the author to his Cambridge mentor Frederick Sanger on the front free endpaper, "To Fred Sanger, with many thanks for your help and inspiration over this work, from, Davidson Nicol. Return address: University College of Sierra Leone, Freetown". With a handful of small manuscript corrections and insertions of special characters by Nicol. Nicol was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and became the first African to graduate with First Class Honours from Cambridge and the first African elected Fellow of a Cambridge college. He went on to earn a medical degree from St. Bart's and then returned to Sierra Leone where he worked as a university administrator. Nicol served as Sierra Leone's chief United Nations delegate from 1969 to 1971, was president of the Security Council, and later became the Under Secretary General and head of Unitar, a UN institute that teaches diplomacy, negotiation, and economic and social development to diplomats from developing countries. A prolific author, he wrote both fiction and works on international politics, and in later life was president of the World Federation of United Nations Associates. Tall quarto. 27 tipped-in plates, tables in the text. Original black cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Typescript, text on the rectos only. Some dampstain to cloth also affecting portions of contents, particularly the gutter and upper edges of early leaves, some spotting and tanning, browning of adhesive used for plates, a very good copy.

Dom Sylvester's memorial to the artist Ken Cox, who died in November 1968 after a tragic accident. This double-sided print was printed at the Compton Press, Salisbury, in orange and green on white stock. Recto features silkscreen in three colours together with the title and date. Verso, printed in black, contains the full length title "Ken Cox Memorial/Sun-Cheese wheel-ode, a double-rolling-gloster memorial for kencox" and the complex workings of Houedard's Consonant and Vowel System as well as acknowledging Semi-Bold Flaxman by Edward Wright. The letters K- E- N- C- O- X are missing from the composition - reflecting the loss of the artist. Circa 300 prints were produced on white, pink and yellow stock. This copy being on white. Condition: vg. some toning to edges, light ding to bottom right corner, general handling. Handling and staining to verso. A historic print - the concrete poetry movement mourning the loss of their most prominent sculptor.
