Lavishly illustrated edition of this classic children's tale about a prince who becomes lame & is locked away in a tower, but escapes using his magical cloak. In 121 pages with a full-color frontispiece & other color & black-and-white illustrations throughout. A c. 1909 edition from Rand McNally, the hardcover book has green textured cloth-over-boards with red & gilt design & lettering to front & spine, paper pastedown to front cover, which shows heavy edgewear & chipping. Condition overall is Good-: stitched binding is secure, but somewhat shaky. About 10 pages have some crayon scribbling, else unmarked. Random soiled spots throughout. Heavy rubbing to extremities & bumped corners. Small previous owner first name and "Christmas 1933" neatly penned on blank fly leaf. Gorgeous illustrations throughout by Hope Dunlap, both full color and black and white.
