Title page and portrait of Albrecht Durer, followed by 43 leaves each printed on recto only and each with a different translation of the Lord's Prayer and with a culturally specific illustration of Durers as the background. Dark green leather over spine and corners, with raised spine bands creating five compartments. Gilt stamped lettering and decoration. Covers are scuffed and a little worn, though gilt remains bright. Foxing and some soiling is seen on end leaves and a little on title page. There are scattered foxing spots throughout and occasional smudges, but for the most part the contents are clean. Volume remains tight.

Portrait frontispiece of Durer with pictorial title page, 43 leaves each containing the Lord's Prayer in a different language, surrounded by decorations by Durer in different colors and one leaf on stiff paper stock in green, red, and black with a rubricated passage from St. Luke. A RARE and valuable work of decorated lithography. Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Book.

Title within ornate architectural border and 38 woodcuts in the text within a border of type ornaments, text and illustrations printed on the versos only, rectos blank save for the border. A-K1-4, L1-2. Complete. Book edition, 1604, published under the wrong title, of the bookseller G.L. Froben from Hamburg. The series 'Sündenfall und Erlösung des Menschengeschlechtes' by Albrecht Altdorfer was first published 1513 in form of single woodcuts, sometimes as a series in an album or a book. When the Froben-edition was published 1604, 38 of the 40 wood blocks had been left. This edition was provided with borders and sentences from the bible and the fathers of church. The binding with small abrasions on the covers and at the edges. The spine worn and with some abrasions and minor mendings. Leaves F3 & G2, with small, carefully deposited tear at the lower right corners, in the white margin (not touching the border).
