In addition, the first Annual Shakespeaean Festival was held in 1935, and every year since (with a brief interruption during WWII), with 400 000 tickets sold every year. The little booklet was distributed by the Publicity Department of the Ashland Commercial Club and described the city's location, recreational activities, climate, accomodations, and so on.
