First Edition
Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. A scarce Victorian religious allegory in the tradition of Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, written and self-published by Alfred Dye of Providence House, Bellend, Rowley Regis, near Dudley. The volume contains two works: the title allegory and a reprinted companion piece, The Blessed Saviour and the Samaritan Sinner. Distributed through London booksellers Wileman of Bouverie Street and Wilmshurst of Warwick Lane, with additional distribution through Mayfield, Sussex. A privately circulated work of this kind, originating from a named address in the West Midlands nonconformist tradition, represents the kind of grassroots Victorian devotional publishing that rarely survives in any quantity. Copies are not commonly encountered.
