Buch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'On the Trail of the Unknown in the Wilds of Ecuador and the Amazon' is a gripping first-hand account of early 20th-century exploration through some of the most remote and challenging terrains on Earth. Written by the renowned aviator and explorer George Miller Dyott, the narrative follows his amb…itious journey across the rugged peaks of the Andes and deep into the dense, uncharted reaches of the Amazon Basin. The work documents the immense physical hardships and logistical triumphs of traveling through thick jungles and high mountain passes. Dyott provides vivid observations of the diverse ecosystems he encounters, from the volcanic landscapes of Ecuador to the labyrinthine waterways of the great Amazon river system. Beyond geographical surveying, the book offers a fascinating look at the indigenous populations of the region, detailing their customs, traditions, and the complex interactions between explorers and local communities during a transformative era of South American history.Combining the thrill of a survival story with the precision of a scientific travelogue, 'On the Trail of the Unknown in the Wilds of Ecuador and the Amazon' serves as a vital historical record of the age of discovery. It remains an essential read for those interested in the history of South American exploration and the enduring allure of the world's last frontiers. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. - Vorsätze etw. braunfleckig, sonst innen gutes Exemplar.

Condition: Very Good. Offering this uniquely-signed copy of Man Hunting in the Jungle: Being the Story of a Search for Three Explorers Lost in the Brazilian Wilds , by George M. Dyott. New York: Blue Ribbon Books, 1930, 1st American Edition (NAP). Hardcover, no dust jacket, deckled edges, with photo illustrations in b/w. Chronic…les the author's real-life rescue expedition into the wilds of the Brazilian Amazon to find out what happened to the famous British explorer, Colonel Percy Fawcett, who had vanished in 1925 while searching for the mythical lost City of Z. Overall condition is Very Good. A little bumping and wear to the cover, minor spine slant, binding remains secure. Mild age toning to pages, a small stamp "Bloomingdales Book Dept New York" on title page (see picture), else pages clean and unmarked. The signature on the ffep is not that of George Dyott, but of his wireless and radio operator, Bill de Mello, who was recruited for the mission by Dyott. He is a crucial character in the story, introduced by name on the first page (p. 13). Bill inscribed and signed as follows: "To my dearest friends, Guy and Dottie; with affection, from Bill De Mellow. N.Y. Nov. 4, 1957." The 1957 date ties his signature into the Hollywood film adaptation of the book, which was in production during 1957 and released in 1958. It is likely that Bill was in New York for an event related to the movie when he signed this book. This is indeed a special copy.
