Le premier volume supervisé par Chappe d'Auteroche présente les tables du Soleil et de la Lune avec des additions par Le Monnier. Le second volume supervisé par Jérôme De Lalande présente les tables des planètes et des comètes, et est précédé d'une traduction de la théorie des comètes par Halley. Au texte de Halley, Lalande présente pour la première fois son récit du retour de la comète de 1682 en 1759.
